Only staff holding a current PA1 and PA6 certificate may mix or apply herbicide. If you are not certificated, you may assist with signage and cordoning only.

Mix in the open, downwind, over the drip tray carried in every van. Never mix inside the van or over a drain, gully or watercourse. Canvey Seafront Gardens and any site with surface water drainage to a ditch require the office to be told before treatment.

Check wind conditions before spraying. Do not apply above Beaufort force 3, or where rain is forecast within two hours.

Signage goes out before you spray and stays up for the period stated on the product label. On school sites, treatment is carried out outside pupil hours only.

Record the product, batch number, dilution, area treated and weather on the job sheet at the time of treatment. This record is a legal requirement, not paperwork for its own sake.
