Marsh Lane Grounds Maintenance sends crew out alone only where a site has been assessed as low risk. If you arrive and anything about the site feels different to the assessment — locked access, standing water, a dog loose on site, or work at height needed — stop and call the office before starting.

Before you begin a lone visit, log your arrival on the app or by tapping the site tag. This tells the office you are on site and starts your check-in window. If we have not heard from you two hours after arrival, Dawn or Elaine will ring you.

Keep your phone charged and on you, not in the van. Where a site has no signal — Canvey Seafront Gardens in particular near the sea wall — ring in before you walk out of coverage and again when you are back at the van.

Do not use hedge cutters, chainsaws, or any powered equipment at height while working alone. These are two-person tasks without exception. If a job on your sheet needs one of these, mark the task as blocked and the office will re-crew it.

If you are injured and able to, ring 999 first and the office second. If you are unsure whether an injury needs reporting, report it. We would far rather log something minor than miss something that mattered.
