Steel toe-capped boots and a hi-vis vest or jacket are worn on every site, every visit, without exception. This includes short litter picks and quick inspections.

Eye protection and ear defenders are worn for all strimming, mowing, blowing and hedge cutting. Cut-resistant gloves are worn when handling blades, wire, or any waste that may contain sharps.

Gloves and a face covering are worn when handling herbicide concentrate. Refer to the Herbicide Handling Procedure for the full method.

Damaged PPE is replaced, not patched. Tell the office the same day and a replacement will be in your van within 48 hours. Working without correct PPE because yours is worn out is never the right answer.

On school and hospital sites, keep hi-vis on at all times so you are visible to pupils, patients and visitors moving around you.
